Greetings from the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre!

I am pleased to welcome, Dr. Pál Hatos, Director General, Balassi Institute, Budapest who will be on an official visit to New Delhi in the end of April. He will be delivering a lecture for the students of Amity School during his visit.

We will continue to exhibit caricatures by ÉDUA SZŰCS from Hungary for our art lover till the end of May.

For our music lovers we conclude the final cycle of the lecture series by eminent musicologist PUNITA SINGH titled INTRODUCTION TO WESTERN CLASSICAL MUSIC. The CAPITAL CITY MINSTRELS present the Summer Concert on the 1st of May.

For the film lovers in India, we are happy to share that the Hungarian film, FRESH AIR will travel to Mumbai and Jodhpur, as part of the ongoing EUFF 2014. In the month of January, famous Hungarian Director, MIKLÓS JANCSÓ passed away and as a tribute to this legendary Director, we will organise a Retrospective of his films in 5 sessions.

In the contemporary art, Édua Szűcs belongs to those mature graphic artists who practice their expertise based on their brief and proficiency. Her drawing skills are amazing, her aspects of creating situations are brilliant, her knowledge of humanity can sensibly react to such resonance that makes it possible for everyone to have the same personal reaction.

RETROSPECTIVE OF THE FILMS BY MIKLÓS JANCSÓ (1921-2014)

 

In cooperation with the Federation of Film Societies of India Northern Region

The retrospective pays tribute to Miklós Jancsó, widely acclaimed, iconic Hungarian film director who became world famous with his early films on the relationship of the ordinary men and those in power. His five films were nominated for Best Director Award at the Cannes Festival in the 60-ies and 70-ies. The screenings will take place as per the following schedule:

6th May, Tuesday:

– Inauguration of the Retrospective Session with a talk on Miklós Jancsó by Prof. Diwaker Balakrishnan

– followed by an introduction on Jancsó’s life-work by Ms. Anandana Kapur, film maker and critique

– and closing remarks by Mr. Gautam Kaul, Vice President, Federation of Film Societies of India

– Screening of the film The Round-Up (1965) (Szegénylegények)

19th EUROPEAN UNION FILM FESTIVAL (EUFF 2014)

Hungarian film Fresh Air (Friss levegő)

As part of the 19th edition of the EUFF 2014 with the theme VOICES OF YOUTH, Hungary will participate with the film Fresh Air by Ágnes Kocsis (2006), colour, duration: 109 minutes.

Viola is still a beautiful woman. Angéla is ashamed of her mother. Communication between them has become almost impossible. Probably, in secret, they both are in love with the protagonist. Viola works where no one else wants to. She is looking for a real man whom she could love. Angéla would like to design nice dresses. She desires something different. Another life. Fresh air.

The screening in the two cities will take place as per the following schedule:
