Press Release                           June 4, 2014

The Aam Aadmi Party has filed a police complaint against the illegal land deal by which the union urban development ministry and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had allowed M/s Raheja Developers to make huge profits in the resettlement plan for Khatputli Colony in New Delhi.

The complaint has been filed by Ashish Khaitan, who was the AAP candidate from the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency and during the election campaign, the party had highlighted the Rs1,000 crore scam. (copy of the complaint is attached with the release).

The AAP had assured the residents of the Kathputli Colony that the party will raise the issue and not allow them to be subjected to injustice. The concerned police officials have sought a week’s time to respond on the complaint.

After the AAP raised the issue, the BJP had also demanded a CBI probe into the deal during the election campaign itself. Now, since the New Delhi constituency is represented by the BJP MP Ms Meenakshi Lekhi and her party is in power at the centre, the AAP would like to know the BJP stand  on the issue.

Since the Delhi Police is under the direct control of the union home ministry, the onus of ensuring a thorough and impartial probe into the matter now squarely lies with the BJP.

The AAP hopes that the BJP will live upto its election promise and ensure justice for the affected people in the heart of the national capital.
