#9:  41ST SUB-JUNIOR NATIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP – MAHARASHTRA GIRLS EDGE PAST KARNATAKA

 

(Vishnu Ravi Shankar) Nashik, 25-26 November 2014: The Maharashtra girls faced the Karnataka team in the last match of Day 4 of the 41st Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship here in Nashik. The game was close throughout with both the teams tied at 45-45 going into the final minute. Maharashtra managed to edge past Karnataka in the dying moments of the game to pull off a 47-45 victory. In the other upper pool girls games yesterday evening, the defending champs Chhattisgarh continued their dominant performance with a 53-11 win against Punjab and the Uttar Pradesh girls beat Delhi 37-12. Among the boys games, the defending boys champs Chhattisgarh picked up an easy 49-13 win against Jharkhand, while Andhra Pradesh beat Uttar Pradesh 65-37.

 

On the morning of Day 5, the Madhya Pradesh girls impressed with a huge 79-11 win against Andhra Pradesh, while the Uttar Pradesh boys made easy work of Jharkhand 61-27. The Chandigarh boys and the Haryana girls qualified to the pre-quarterfinals to be held later today, with victories against Assam and West Bengal respectively. In the losers knockout, the Karnataka boys and the Chandigarh girls qualified to the losers final, both picking up victories against the Bihar teams.
